I was seventeen when I first started working with Soft Touch. I was very low and I lacked a lot of confidence.

I remember, I was seventeen, and honestly speaking, I was very worried about my future, because in Denmark I wasn’t actually doing very well in the Danish school system. And coming here, and learning a new language from the beginning, that was very difficult because I was worried about my future, and whether I would have a good career.

I first met the people from Soft Touch in the late 1980s, when I had just arrived from Dubai, trying to start my education from scratch. I couldn’t speak English very well, and was struggling with the language barrier.

Soft Touch opened my mind to greater community work, although at first I only wanted to act or teach drama, but now I’d like to teach lots of things that would help people, like awareness of their own community and  how to work with young adults to give them the confidence that Soft Touch gave me.
