The money will be used to restore the frontage and forecourt of our new building on New Walk, and to work with people of all generations to put together an exhibition showing continuity and change in the city in the past 70-odd years since the building was opened as a car showroom in 1951.
The project will look at themes such as fashions, home life, transport and entertainment. We will be working alongside a professional curator who will support the participants to make a top quality, multi-media exhibition which will be launched to coincide with the opening of the new building in summer 2014.
We will also be putting on an arts and crafts day where members of the public will be able to try their hands at different crafts which were popular in the ‘50s.
