Erica wins Young Volunteer of the Year Award

Exactly five days after winning the Leicester Mercury Business Awards in the not for profit category we had more great news when Erica Smith won a Lord Lieutenant’s Award at County Hall on Tuesday 8th April 2014.

Erica, who is from New Parks, has been involved with Soft Touch for three years. She started as a project participant on one of our Well Cool healthy eating projects and soon moved into a volunteer role, helping to devise delicious recipes and food for local community events organised by Soft Touch.

She has put in over 200 hours of volunteering and her hard work, enthusiasm and commitment was rewarded when she won the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire’s Young Volunteer of the Year Award.

Lady Gretton’s awards are such a brilliant way to recognise the achievements of local young people. Erica’s prize was a laptop and digital camera which will help her to develop her interest in photography.
