Newby Castleman not only played a significant role in helping us to expand, but have also helped with managing the financial complexities that come with being a charity.
In particular, the firm has assisted us with the complex VAT issues surrounding the acquisition and refurbishment of our new premises and we were delighted that they also sponsored the hospitality at our launch event earlier this summer. Raquel also takes a personal interest in our progress; for example, she has taken up a role on our business panel and her continued endeavours have helped to cement our long standing relationship with the firm.
Due to another voluntary role Raquel holds on the Leicestershire committee of Wooden Spoon children’s charity, she was able to initiate a £20,000 fundraising project to install a project kitchen in our new building. This incredible sum ensured our new kitchen was ready in time for a Royal visit in June from HRH the Earl of Wessex to officially open our new premises. In addition it has helped us to launch our Thursday lunchtime ‘pop-up’ café which is run by young volunteers at Soft Touch to help them get experience in catering and cooking.
Raquel comments, “It’s been a huge pleasure to work alongside such a fantastic organisation and I am pleased that through the commitment of Newby Castleman and my own voluntary work, we have been able to have such a
positive impact.
At Newby Castleman we endeavour to work with our local community and we look forward to continuing to work with Soft Touch to bring about positive change to the lives of the young people that rely on the charity.”
