This is a vital role which complements and adds to the skills of our management board, and helps us to test out and develop ideas for new income generation schemes and support in promoting these to local businesses.
As well as sponsoring a brick for our ‘Brick in the Wall’ fundraising campaign to raise funds to finish 50 New Walk, Tracey was really keen to help us showcase how our building can be used for dining and business events. Also, Tracey helped us to highlight our Cooking Up Business team-building cooking sessions for businesses. So, she came up with the idea for the Fine and Funny Dining night. (See the Fine & Funny Dining gallery here)
The Miller Partnership are involved with Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival as a sponsor and they went out on a limb and trusted Soft Touch to host the event at 50 New Walk. Tracey wanted to involve the White Peacock who are already working in partnership with Soft Touch. The White Peacock help with the food for our events and give our young people great work experience by working with top Leicester chef Phillip Sharpe! Tracey also got KKong events interested and they sponsored the headline comedian, Jarred Christmas. Chris Greenwell from Gateley PLC, Chris Rees from Howes Percival and Pete Miller himself revived their Business Stand-Up Challenge sets in support along with one of our young People James Sheridan.
Fine and Funny Dining was a great success and raised £1600 for Soft Touch. The funds will go straight back into our sMASHing cooking and catering programme. The programme gives vulnerable young people valuable life and employability skills. It also gave one of our young people a great opportunity and confidence boost with the chance to perform his comedy set alongside Jarred Christmas. James has been buzzing ever since. The event has also been nominated for a Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival Make Me Happy Community Award.
We are very proud to have Pete and Tracey of the Miller Partnership on board as supporters of our charity. As well as providing expert tax advice they really go the extra mile to make a difference in the community. Visit their website at www.themillerpartnership.com
