Our Impact

If you don’t have the security of a happy and stable home and have problems relating to others it can lead to not performing well at school and difficulties in viewing a positive future.  In Leicestershire 46,000 children live in poverty, 30,000 of them in Leicester city, with one of the highest levels of child poverty in England at 35%. Children living in poverty are more likely to leave school without 5 good GCSEs, have low aspirations and an uncertain future in terms of finding employment. They’re at increased risk of teenage pregnancy, drug use and anti-social behaviour and have multiple challenges at important transition points in their lives where their more privileged peers would be more likely to go into further education or find jobs.

Soft Touch has been using creative projects to engage with and transform the lives of young people in these situations since 1986.  Our projects unlock untapped potential and a support a more positive outlook and sense of purpose.  We believe it because we’ve seen it happen.
