Olympic success, young filmmakers complete short films
Young people in Leicester are seeking support for four short films they have made that illustrate key Olympic and Paralympic values. The films have been submitted to the Film Nation Shorts competition that has seen young people around the country supported in making films. The films ones that prove most popular with the public will be shown in Olympic Stadiums and city centre Big Screens.
Four separate groups of young people in Leicester conceived, storyboarded and shot their films in a single day with the support of filmmakers from participatory arts company Soft Touch Arts. Their films illustrate values such as determination, inspiration, respect and friendship.
Soft Touch Arts co-director Sally Norman said: “The young people really responded to this challenge and have produced some truly inspirational little films. We worked with groups from Beaumont Leys, St Matthews, Clarendon Park and a city wide team and they’ve told us they found it not only fun but they have been inspired to find out more about the Olympics, the paralympics and about film-making. It would be great if people could go along to www.filmnation.org.uk and take a look at the films “The Runner” , “Be Inspired”, “Determination” and “What will you see today?”.
