Works of art created by residents have gone on display at a community centre. The artwork includes beadwork, paper flowers and silk paintings and is mounted in display cases at Eyres Monsell Community Centre.
The display is called Community Threads shows the range of work people have come up with while meeting at a variety of different community arts and craft groups. The work is part of a project, run by the city council and arts organisation Soft Touch Arts, which aims to give people a sense of ownership over their community buildings.
The display was officially unveiled by Eyres Monsell councillor and deputy city mayor Rory Palmer and his colleague, Virginia Cleaver.
Coun Palmer said: “It’s a result of the hard work and creativity of people. I support initiatives like this as they help to bring communities together.”
