Creative New Parks

Wednesday 3rd February 2016 saw the launch of the two latest projects in the Arts Council funded partnership programme with New Parks Library ‘Creative New Parks’.

A children’s storybook ‘Wild Rose and Scruff Maguff’ written and illustrated by library users working alongside writer Alison Dunne and Soft Touch employee Lauren Park was unveiled.

The book is set in New Parks and features some real life people.

A new art exhibition ‘Involuntary Paintings’ which features work by local people and artists in New York was also unveiled and will be on display in the Library for the next two months.

The contemporary art exhibition has been created in conjunction with independent artists, Paul Conneally, a Situationist artist is based in Loughborough, and Millree Hughes, a British digital artist living in New York working with Soft Touch Arts.

Following the event, a copy of the book will be available in every library in Leicester, with copies on sale for £5. If you are interested in buying a copy please contact sally@soft-touch.org.uk.
