Musical Care Homes
Musical Care Homes is a new ground breaking project that works specifically in homes with elderly people.
Funded by Learning for the Fourth Age, musician Andrew Price and Soft Touch music worker Geno go to care homes for two hours a week and work with elderly people and people with Dementia.
With around 15 people taking place, the session is based around music and involves singing and percussion as well as some technology, including iPad sessions.
The sessions are designed to engage and inspire the people involved, and stimulate them along with making them happy through musical education, for Soft Touch this is a new strand of work and one that is particularly rewarding!
Currently, the sessions are only being held in one care home but will be expanding into a second shortly.
