Style Your Space is a project that started on January 16th 2015 and it is funded by NLDC through LASALS (Leicester Adult Skills and Learning).
Style Your Space is led by Kieran from Soft Touch, with classroom support from Leena and a previous course participant Kelly Payne, every Friday from 9.30am until 12.30pm at the New Parks Community Centre, it is a 9 week course that teaches adults in the community to decorate their homes on a budget, teaching them useful skills such as upcycling and traditional art techniques, running for the fifth time and with funding to run one more time you can see that it is a success within itself.
The proje
ct specifically targets hard to reach members of the community to help teach and develop their skills along with building their confidence by putting them in groups of people in similar situations and getting them to work together to create the artwork for their homes, the course is made up of groups of ten aged 18+
Style Your Space also helps the people taking part to develop their own community as well as their homes, by working on projects such as a larger scale mural which is displayed at the Methodist Church on Battersbee Road as well as another mural in the New Parks Community Centre whilst giving them a real sense of community.
A lot of participants enjoyed the course so much that some have started taking part in other Soft Touch products.

Style Your Space is still currently ongoing and has been given funding to run again after this course finishes.
