The project was funded by a grant from Stonewall via their Citizenship 21 fund which enabled groups of people who suffer prejudice to work together.

Young people from First Out youth group, based at Leicester Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Centre and NCBI (National Coalition Building Institute) created a set of four postcards focusing on racism and homophobia.

The cards were designed to be used in schools and with youth groups and were distributed free to all secondary schools and community colleges in the city and county. Taking part was a positive experience for the participants, all of whom had experienced prejudice themselves. The project also allowed the young people to learn new practical skills: “I learnt written and verbal communication skills and how to express ideas clearly and effectively. And I learnt camera skills!”
