Kickstart Mentoring Programme

The Kickstart Mentoring Programme, funded by Lloyds Bank Foundation, started receiving applications in September 2015 for business mentors from the local community.

RG+P architects and Spearing Waite solicitors have pledged support for any of their staff to take part and we have also had independent applications from a wide range of local businesses.

Thirteen mentors have now been through the training programme, designed to prepare them for working with young people facing multiple challenges. Mentors meet their mentees once a week to build their self-esteem and support them in reaching goals such as going to college or finding a job.

To complement the one-to-one mentoring, we are also inviting applications from people in the local community to join our skill-share scheme. This is a way to connect local skilled volunteers with young people who have specific needs, for example, an accountant may support young people to develop their financial skills.
